I updated to the new version but am still seeing the following problem (on XP w/ Service Pack 3). When I log into my computer, I get my wallpaper, desktop icons quickly and then Yahoo Widgets loads (Weather, Battery, WiFi)… everything is smooth up until it tries to load SimpleMonitor – then my entire system “pauses” for about 2 minutes. Everything in my Task Bar / Systray loads except for the network connection icons. After about 2minutes, SimpleMonitor finally loads, and almost simultan…eously the Systray network icons also show up.
I’ve tried reinstalling Yahoo Widgets. I’ve done a full Defrag, CHKDSK,etc. If I disable or remove SimpleMonitor, my system logs in smoothly without any waiting. As soon as I turn SimpleMonitor back on, I get the 2minute pause again.
The only thing I do not like about this, is that the 'in' and 'out' graphs seem to be below the line of the window they appear in.... as in.... you never see the bottom of the graph... I know its probably just me, but I kind of like to see the entire thing... and too see the zero line too....
OK so I guessed that it must be a privileges issue in Vista as it tries to access everything which Vista would prevent...So I closed yahoo widgets and started again but this time as administrator ("Run as Administrator" option after right clicking on the shortcut) and it worked like a charm!
I love this widget. But the newer versions (upwards 0.5.3) dont seem to work and show the error "Failed to create COM object, the widget will exit". Has anyone else encountered this problem? I have the latest version of yahoo widgets engine installed....Hope someone listens to me as the older version shows incorrect network usage...
